Upcoming Birding Tours in Colombia You Can Join

A private guided tour of Colombia is wonderful — but it is not the only, or the cheapest, way to bird the world's most bird-rich country. If you are an individual, a couple, or a pair of friends, one of the smartest ways to travel is to join a scheduled group tour with a fixed departure date. You get the same expert guiding, the same endemics, and the same carefully planned route — but you share the costs with the group instead of paying the premium of a private trip. These are our set departures: birding tours in Colombia you can simply join.

Why join a set-departure tour?

The appeal comes down to value and simplicity. On a set-departure (or "scheduled") tour, the dates, route, and logistics are already fixed — you just claim a spot. Because the fixed costs of a tour (guide, transport, local arrangements) are shared across the whole group, the per-person price drops as the group grows. Joining an existing departure is almost always cheaper than commissioning the same itinerary privately, which makes it the natural choice for solo birders and couples who do not need a private, custom trip.

There is a social side too. Some of the best parts of a birding trip are the shared ones — the group scanning a flock together, the collective gasp when a Multicolored Tanager drops onto a perch, the friendships that form over early-morning coffee. A small-group tour gives you all of that, with like-minded birders from around the world.

How the group pricing works

Our pricing is transparent and scales with the group. The per-person rate is highest for two travelers and drops at each group-size tier — through 3-4, 5-6, and up to 7-8 participants. In other words, the more birders on the departure, the less each person pays. You can see the exact figure for every tier on each tour's listing, so there are no surprises: you know before you commit roughly where the price will land as the group fills.

Solo traveler? Skip the single supplement

Traveling alone should not mean paying more, so we do two things. First, our single supplements are deliberately modest compared with much of the industry. Second — and better — if you are happy to share, we offer roommate matching: we pair you with another same-gender traveler on the tour so you take a twin room and avoid the supplement entirely. Many solo birders join our departures precisely because it is such an easy, affordable way to travel. (We cover this in detail in our guide for solo birders.)

Reading the availability status

Each departure on our Upcoming Tours page shows its current status so you know exactly where things stand: Spaces Available means there is room to join; a note like 2 Spaces Left means it is filling; and Full means that departure is closed (ask us about a waiting list or the next date). Because our groups are small, popular departures do fill — so if a date suits you, it is worth reserving early.

How to join a tour

It is simple. Browse the dates and full pricing on our Upcoming Tours page, pick the departure that fits your calendar, and message us to reserve your spot. We'll confirm availability, answer any questions about the itinerary or the birds, walk you through the booking, and — if you are traveling solo and would like to share — start the roommate-matching process. From there, all you have to do is get yourself to Colombia; we handle everything on the ground.
